I just want to express myself through the art of dance! part 2

Unfortunately, I had to post this on youtube. Please remember that this is made up on the spot; thus it is lacking a lot of technique and planning. I hope you arn't expecting Brittany Spears in her prime or a prima ballerina. I'm far from that.

Dance Video

1. I want to know who made a comment that you had to DELETE it.

2. I'm not sure how this really relates to your essay besides the fact that you're dancing. I'm not an authority on dancing, so maybe you should include something that describes the importance of why you chose a certain tempo or certain movements? I couldn't actually get through the whole video just because it's somebody dancing to Poe-- that's it. I think it'd be good to describe the significance of the whole dancing thing a little more in-depth.

vWho would have thought emily could dance? You make Brittany years ago look like Brittany now (lol). I liked it but as Lance said I'm not sure what the dance has to do with the concept of your project. Since i feel like it is the focus/creative part of the project maybe you should somehow relate form and technique to something we've previously studied. Like Jimmy Corrigan and HoL we produced a diliberate format; how was your dance produced and why did you choose that style/technique with the poe track?

did you guys read my rough draft?... thats where i was going with it but i'm now thinking its still kinda far fetched and might just start from scratch

First, I'm impressed.

Second, I think you're fine with it being on Youtube - it's not like the camera is close enough to really mark it _definitively_ as you.

Third, I got no sound. I'll try it again on another computer is something, but just in case I keep having trouble, could you let me know which Poe track you used?

Fourth, I connected it with HOL when watching it - especially with Johny. I have no intelligent way of talking about dance (my loss - I just don't know very much), but to my untutored eyes this seemed like an unusually frenetic dance - it reminded me of Johny's _style_. Maybe I'm just making that up, but it's the impression I got.

That being said, I like what Yomi is saying - I'd like to see what you have to write about the dance itself, and what it means to you, and how its techniques/technologies relate to others, e.g., those of HOL itself.

Emily - I just saw your comment. I obviously read the rough draft, but the rough draft is so open & going in so many different directions that it doesn't do much for me in relationship to the video. A more focused essay probably would.

Come on you guys, it's BRITNEY not Brittany. I guess I'm not surprised that you all wouldn't know that, though.

Ummm, I can actually answer your question Lance. Originally I posted saying that the video wasn't workign because it wasn't loading on my computer when I checked the blog this morning. Then, I went back and saw that it was so I deleted the comment.

In regards to the dance... good job! I liked it. But, I can't really say how I feel about it in regards to your rough draft. I am unable to access the file at my parents house. Weird.

PS- Lance wrote a drunken facebook message? What?!

he doesn't want to admit to it, but i'm going to take a wild guess and say he was

Some of those moves look downright painful, such as the backwards roll, and I used to go to the YMCA, put on gloves, and get punched in the head for fun.

I'm also tremendously impressed that this is improvisational, it flows very well for something you're making up as you go.

Lastly, you realize that you're now required to dish out the drunken facebook message Lance left you, because I'm sure that's a fucking comedy goldmine you're sitting on over there.

What the HELL guys? I was not DRUNK when I left any message. I also like to point out that Timmy and Alex are conspiring against me to make any communication with any female in class awkward.

he said " I lost my hat.

I blame you.

And Timmy wants to free your monkeys or somethin or other."

but it was more of the fact that it was posted at 130 on a friday night.

... you are to easy of a target lance. i wish i would have know this earlier

Tim said...

I do want to free your monkeys Emily, but Lance must have been drunk when he wrote that. I vaguely remember him sitting at his desk with a bottle of Jack around one in the morning yesterday. He must have been wasted. And, I got back this morning and he was sleeping in his hat, which entirely voids his claims that he doesn't sleep in his hat.

Ha, those last two parts may or may not be fictionalized, but all that really matters is whether or not you all choose to believe me.

Word.

Lies and falsehoods! Timmy, don't you dare go to sleep tonight, it may be the last time you are awake and breathing with both of your lungs!

It was not a bottle of Jack it was a 20 fl oz bottle of Brisk. And I was not wearing my hat when I went to sleep as I woke up with severe bed-head and somehow like 4 or 5 lipstick kisses on my neck which I really hope was not an addition that Timmy made.

"Easy Target"? Psh, are you insinuating that I'm a LOOSE class clown? This comedian's got MORALS Emily.

Emily said...

HAHA! i'm going to have to believe Tim on this one and go with saying that Lance is telling lies with the 4-5 lipstick kisses on his neck. lets get real here...

HAH, I SHOWED them to Timmy this morning, and though he would try to deny it as a way to further be a thorn in my side; I know I've proven it to someone!

And why does it have to be a lie anyway? You calling me a minotaur?

Tim said...

I don't know what Lance is talking about. I love how the class blog has turned into a forum for random, tangential conversations.

Timmy, I'm gonna eat all your food.

Update: I ate all his food.

I just want to step in here and point out that, as of this comment, Lance has 7 of the (now) 20 comments on this post.

Statistically, this means that Lance accounts for roughly every third post.
