Because I do not have a creative bone in my body, I have no choice but to do a critical essay for my midterm project. I was thinking of Camus’s novel The Plague. In most science fiction novels we are faced with the world after a major catastrophe, nuclear war or some biological disaster, that leaves the world bare of life. Camus’s novel follows one town during the plague epidemic and my idea was to use it as an example of how humans are affected during, rather than after, a major catastrophe. I got this idea from the remark in Dick’s novel about falling owls and his comparison to the plague. I am not sure if this is a good idea for narrative and technology class, and I would like to hear your thoughts on this.
